Life
in Blue and Green, probably my personal favorite, was shown
at Tea Garden Springs in Mill Valley, California. For this
work I wrote poetry and embedded it in a pumous-like soft
rock that I’d shaped like the staella the Mayans made for
their own writing. By this time I was deeply involved in the
writing of the novel and that writing had moved me to create
images that I was seeing in my imagination. For that purpose,
I developed a way to photograph that kept one part of the
image transparent. It was important to me that it was not
done by Photo shopping, but was what was actually there. For
the show I hired a Mayan musician so that the music fit with
the images and the writing.
