The
Song of the Nightingale was shown at Image Works in Mill
Valley, California and again at Renzo in San Francisco.
I wrote poetry to go with the images that I’d written on
that trip to France. The heart of the work came from an
experience at Mt. St. Michel on the Normandy coast when
the bird’s song drew me to look for it where I discovered
the wonder of lights and shadows on the Mount at night.
From there I did a serious of images. It felt representative
of my entire time in France when I was in a state that I
can only describe as creative bliss. The only other time
I’ve had that experience was some years later in the Yucatan.
The result of that time was the show Life in Blue and Green.
